Forgive Me!

Hello all!!!!

I am so so so sorry it has been two weeks since my last post.  All the sudden life got super busy and I let this slip, which I hate because I love writing.  I started my new job, which I love, Andy's uncle is very sick in the hospital, and it's been back to back celebrations for Brittany and Grant.  Whew busy! But no excuse.

So after writing that, I have the perfect transition into what I want to talk about today.  Originally, I planned for this to be about oils.  I love oils and that post is coming!  But after finishing this book today I've been reading, I felt the need to share it.

I just finish the book Hands Free Mama by Rachel Macy Stafford.  I am sure you have realized I am obsessed with anything mom.  Like I am a proud mama and I want to wear all the mama gear, read all the books directed towards moms, be in the groups etc.  So I believe, it was my mom who mentioned this book to me.  She said one of the lady's at her school (she's a teacher), her daughter wrote a book.  And she has a blog and my mom just thought it might be interesting to me!

I am definitely into supporting local people and businesses so I purchased the book on Amazon.  I am not gonna lie it sat on my shelf for a loooonnnng time.  I love to read, but with a four year old it doesn't happen as much as I'd like.  Finally, I started the book and was hooked.  Hands Free Mama is a guide to putting down the phone, burning the to-do list, and letting go of perfection to  grasp what really matters.

Rachel talks about how we have all these distractions in our lives and they are keeping us from what is most important to us.  It's meant to be kind of a guide that was intended for a year period.  I of course went quicker once I started because I couldn't put it down.  But, it has stories about things she has done to become hands free, things to try, etc.  It's really helpful.

Reading this I will say, I felt a little better about myself because some of the things she mentions, like talking about your kids' days when you pick them up instead of being on the phone, or going over paperwork and artwork with your children at the end of each day, I do.  So not a total lost cause right?!  However, I have to say I am a busy person.  I enjoy being busy and being involved in lots of activities and people's lives.  But, I do have a problem saying no or taking a time out when I am too busy.  You know how I said I love mom things? Well that also means I want to do everything perfect.  I want to make sure I have it all documented, go to every event, keep everything.  So I still have a lot to work on.

Last night I kind of put this book to practice without thinking.  Jackson had found this cool rock, it was pretty cool and big, inside his school and the teacher said he could keep it.  Well as we were hurrying to bed, trying to get in the bath and our night time routine done at a decent hour, he asked what would we do with the rock.  Secretly, I was thinking I'd throw it out when he wasn't looking but I decided to ask what he wanted to do.  He said build it a home.  So instead of getting ready and hurrying off to bed, Jackson and I built a little bed for the rock. He loved it.  Which made me so happy that I took time to do this with him instead of rush him off to bed so I could go lay down and play with my phone.

Anyways, check out the book if you think you need some guidance in this department! It is a good read!
