Fall FUN!

Hello all!!! I hope you are having a great week.  Thank goodness it's FRIDAY!!!!!  I have a busy busy weekend but it will be very fun!  One thing we are doing is seeing some friends that moved out of town.  It's one of Jackson's best buddies, Greyson.  How we met is pretty awesome and meant to be.  Jackson has known, and been in the same classes as Greyson since they both started at daycare around 1 year old.  They were always together until they moved.  And we got to know Greyson's family and love them! The meant to be thing is that one day Andy mentioned the parents looked familiar (before we knew them) and come to find out they were in one of our birthing classes before the boys were born! And Jackson and Greyson are like a week apart in age.  It's really cool!  So we can't wait to see them tomorrow!  We are meeting them half way between both of us and going to an apple orchard./pumpkin patch and I believe is a winery too!

Speaking of I decided to post today about fall fun.  This weekend has started me making my list of all the fun things I want to do this Fall.  Fall is my favorite season, Halloween my favorite holiday, and every year I make a list for fall fun activities for us to do.  Below are some of my favorite, or new ones I plan on trying this year!  This list is for places/activities in Indiana.

Halloween Weekends at Holiday World - Last year the three of us went to Holiday World and had a blast! It was cooler and not super packed and Jackson just loved every second of it.  Therefore, so did we!  But, we were a little early for the Halloween Weekends.  This year I want to go again during Halloween Weekends.  They start this weekend and run through October 29th.  There are special themed shows and events going on as well corn mazes and hayrides! And they still have all the rides open!  Hours are Saturday 10am - 7pm and Sunday 10am- 5pm.  Check it out!!! I definitely plan on it!

The Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie  - I have never been to this but it's definitely something I want to see.  We might just need to wait until Jackson is a little older.  Conner Prairie has different themed shows and activities as well as the headless horseman haunted hay ride. On this hay ride you are chased by the headless horseman!  I would love it! They also added a corn maze this year.  This event takes place October 12-15, 19-22, and 26-29 from 6pm-10pm each night.

Greenfield Riley Days - Riley days is one of my favorite fall activities!  Why? because it combines shopping and is in celebration of the birth of James Whitcomb Riley.  And if you know me, I am a little obsessed with James Whitcomb Riley.  I moved to Greenwood in 4th grade and I call this area home but I will always be a Greenfield girl at the core.  Anyways! The festival has shopping from different craft vendors, good food, and different events that go on during the weekend.  It is October 5-8 and I definitely recommend it!

Apple Orchards/Pumpkin Patches - Every year we go to a couple Apple Orchards or pumpkin patches or places that have both!  My favorite ever, and I try to go every year, is Appleworks.  It is in Trafalgar and they have so much to do!  They have you pick pumpkins, ones you can buy that they picked, an awesome store with apple products, a "petting zoo" area and a play area for kids.  It's awesome!! I recommend the apple cobbler with pumpkin ice cream.  DELISH!

Tuttles - We tried Tuttles out on my birthday.  It was really fun as well!  They had you pick apples, corn maze, you pick sunflowers, food, hayride, and a fun area for kids.  It also had a delicious apple slushie.  Besides being obsessed with fall, I am am obsessed with fall flavors.

Waterman's - There are two locations for Waterman's.  We have been to both and I think they both have similar setups.  They have cool kids areas (which is very important to our family) you pick pumkins and stores.  One is located in Greenwood and the other is right by my house on Raymond.

McClure's - We are trying this one for the first time this weekend when we meet with the Burges.  It says it's an orchard/winery.  All my favorite things!  They have 2 free wine samples and then lots of hard cider and wines available after.  They have you pick apples with a trolley ride and hayride as well.  They have animals and apparently their pink tractor is pretty popular.  I'm very excited!

Haunted Houses – So like I said, I love Halloween.  And I LOVE haunted houses.  like LOVE! Not sure why because I am usually am hiding in Andy's jacket, but I just have so much fun! we don't go that often anymore but I still love a good scare! Some of my favorites are Nightmare on Edgewood and Necropolis.  If you are looking for a little less scary or children appropriate see below!

Haunted House at the Children's Museum - We did this last year.  The haunted house usually has a different theme each year and is separate from the Museum. So you only have to buy a ticket for the actual haunted house if you want to!  the thing I really liked is they offer a lights on and lights off version.  We did lights on for Jackson and it was definitely kid friendly!  It runs from October 7-31 and has different hours each day which you can get on the children's museum website.

Haunted House at Indy Island - This is one we are definitely trying this year! When we were leaving swim lessons we saw a bulletin board for this haunted house.  It sounds like another one perfect for Jackson.  It is October 27th and 28th and lights on 5pm-7pm lights off 7pm-9pm.  It is only $3 dollars per person which makes it even more appealing!

Jack-O-Latern Spectacular - I recommend everyone see this at least once.  It is amazing.  It runs from October 12 to November 5, and is in Louisville Kentucky at Iroquois Park.  It is a walking trail with 5.000 different carved pumpkins lining the trail.  It is really cool!  There are lots of different pumpkins and themes.  Jackson loved the superhero ones.  Be ready for a line.  Apparently I am not the only one who loves it!   But it is definitely worth the wait!!

Indianapolis Zoo Halloween Zoo Boo - Zoo Boo is a good time!  We have a zoo pass so we will definitely be going this year.  It is every Thursday - Sunday in October from 2pm-7pm.  Its neat because you can still see all the animals but they have the zoo decorated in Halloween decorations and there are different Halloween activities throughout the zoo.  They encourage children to wear costumes and have trick or treat stops through out the zoo.  I love any time Jackson is dressed in costume.  :)

Sorry this is so long.  I could go on and on about fall.  Definitely check the websites for the most up to date dates/times and prices.  I will probably post some pictures from the fall activities the Huths do!

Have a great weekend!
