Jackson's Half Birthday!

Only 1 day late with the 6 month update. Not too shabby.

This post is dedicated to my little man. He has brought more joy and love to our life In 6 months than we could ever imagine. And we were pretty blessed and loved before he graced us with his presence. He is such a special little boy. It had been amazing seeing him grow into a little boy over these past 6 months. They really do grow and change so quickly. I can't believe it's already been 6 months. At times I wish it would slow down or halt but other times I get so excited to see him walk, and hear his voice, or watch him in basketball games. I truly treasure every moment.

We decided to celebrate Jackson's half birthday. I think we might make it a tradition and do it every year. It was low key, just celebrating with family but it was fun to reflect and spoil Jacksy :)

We decided to have it the day before his half birthday so that Brittany could come. Unfortunately that meant both grandpas had to miss but we decided to keep Monday night so aunt Brittany could be there. She misses a lot sometimes being gone in Columbus so Jacksy wanted her here this time! But we definitely missed the grandpas.  My mom, Britt, Shelby, Phil, Judy, DJ, and Jordan were all there. He had chili for dinner (perfect for the fall night). Andy made Dave's recipe, which is the best.

I also made a half birthday cake (get it?) even though Jackson can't have cake yet. Everyone else got to enjoy it and he had a little icing, which he LOVED.  Jackson did try a new fruit, peaches, and was crazy about them. We haven't really found a food he's not crazy about yet.  We finally put our hard work to use and made a fire in our fire pit and just enjoyed the cool night.  Jackson of course was spoiled with presents. I need to take a photo of him with everything but he got some clothes, a truck toy, and some baby electronics.  In Andy's words, "gotta start them young."

I had ordered this awesome onesie off Etsy. It says, "Bring on the cake its my half birthday." Jackson wore it that night and the next day to the babysitter's, on his actual half birthday.

We had such a good night celebrating. Jackson is so lucky to have so many people love him.

Now for his 6 month update pictures. Since I am actually putting it up on time I will explain it in more detail. I'm sure I said this before, but I found the chalkboard update idea on Pinterest. It led to this blog, which I still read and love, where a woman did pregnancy updates for her family out of state. I decided to do the updates to track my progress and have pictures from my first pregnancy. I decided to keep it going to update on Jackson's first year. I love to look back at the photos and updates and see how much he has changed and grown. And it helps keep me on top of his baby book.

Here's his 6 month update:

He was all smiles yesterday. And is so close to sitting up alone. Look how stable he is in his chair!

Here's a close up. All smiley again. Probably because Andy is making faces at him.

I had to post this one too because I just love how his hands are in his mouth. They always are, but this is just too cute with that smile.

His board says:

*Pushes down on legs trying to stand - he does this any time he is upright. And he thinks its hilarious. It's like he can't believe it's true.
*As my grandpa would say, "he talks to hear his head roar" - he talks all the time and gets louder and louder making it hard to hear or talk over him. I don't know where he gets that :)
*Rolls all over the place - we are still working on rolling from front to back, which is weird since on most kids that comes first, but any time you lay him down he's trying to roll and is over in just a few seconds. He hardly is on his back anymore.
*Loves mirrors and any toys that make noise - Jackson is really getting into toys. Especially things that make noises. He loves his mobile in the crib and is always smiling when he looks in the mirror.
*Plays who can scream the loudest - Jackson started this squealing and and screaming thing a couple weeks ago. He's not mad or anything when he does it just starts it out of the blue and it can go on for awhile. I don't know if he picked it up from kids at the babysitter's or what, but it's hilarious. I need to try and get it on video.
*Grabs for faces all the time - Any time you hold Jackson or get within arms length he will grab for your face. He is really infatuated with faces. I think when he sees me he can't believe how big my nose and needs to touch it to see if its real :)
*Enjoys all baby foods and loves icing - We haven't tried a food yet that Jackson hasn't liked. It is so fun to see how he acts when it's time to eat or he tries something new. He's like why have you been holding out on me mom?! Some of his favorites are sweet potatoes and bananas. Like I said in my previous post, I made some homemade baby food. He hasn't tried it yet but I have it unthawing in the fridge, so soon! We will see if he's still crazy about food once he tries my cooking!

I can't wait to see what the next month brings. Maybe sitting alone? He is so close and loves to sit up. Or a tooth? He's definitely teething and I can feel one below the gums, just waiting for it to pop through!

I decided this month I am going to write a letter to Jackson and keep it up, doing it at least twice a year until he graduates. I'm gonna keep it in a book and give it to him. I'm not really sure what I'm going to write yet but it's something nice between him and I. I am also going to create a footprint stone and do that every year. It will make a nice little path outside. I love keepsake things and Pinterest ideas in case you couldn't tell.

I could go on and on about this little boy but I guess that's enough for today.

Next post, the September Citrus Lane box review!!
