Jackson Paul Huth

Hello all!!!!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week.  As promised here is my post all about my little man and the day he entered this world.

I had an appointment scheduled for Monday April 1st, to check my blood pressure.  Towards the end of my pregnancy my blood pressure was slowly climbing.  My doctor started having me come for appointments every few days, days she was on call, just in case we needed to induce.  Her goal was to make it to 39 weeks and induce at that point.

The weekend before April 1st was rough.  Friday I started having pains at work and realized they might be contractions.  They weren't consistent though, and were about 18 minutes apart, so I just relaxed Friday night.  I had a hard time sleeping because I kept being woken up with pains.  Saturday I decided to run some errands to get some last minute baby items and things done.  I lasted through all the errands but it was hard.  When we got to our last stop, Walmart, I could barely walk through the store.  I kept stopping for the pains.  I decided I overdid myself and we went home.  My contractions were getting more regular and about 8 minutes apart.  I was taking my blood pressure too and it was climbing even more.  I called the on-call doctor at my OBGYN and she said I could definitely come in to get checked and make sure all was fine, but that even though I was having contractions they were too far apart to be active labor.  I decided to not go and just get a good night sleep.  However I was up again all night almost every time I felt a pain.  Sunday was Easter and we had big plans, church and then to Bud and Imogene's for a big dinner.  Church wasn't too bad. I had ore frequent pains but sat mostly and that seemed to help. Driving to out to dinner I noticed more pain.  Every bump in the road hurt.  We got to Easter dinner and I barely ate a bite.  I was having more pains, more frequently but still about 7 minutes apart.  We left early so I could go home and rest.  That night was the worst.  I barely slept at all, lots of pain!  But I decided to wait until my appointment to do anything.  I was afraid of going to the hospital and being sent home. That would make me very upset!

So back to Monday.  I went to my appointment and had to have another non-stress test to see if my blood pressure was effecting Jackson at all.  After checking my blood pressure (and it was up) and the non-stress test my doctor came in and said that waiting to deliver was more of a risk to me now.  Jackson should be fully developed and continuing to wait could just cause me problems due to my blood pressure so she wanted me to head to St. Francis and she was going to induce!!! I started crying, I was sooooo excited!  Brittany and my mom had come to the appointment with me.  Andy had been to every appointment but decided to skip this one to save his time since he didn't think it would be any different.  Our plan had been to induce at 39 weeks.  Well at 38 weeks and 4 days I was heading to St. Francis to be induced!!!

I wanted an April Fool's baby so bad.  Before my appointment even.  April Fool's is a fun holiday and also a big day for Andy and I.  On April 1, 2010 Andy asked me to marry him.  So  I thought it would be neat to have Jackson the same day, three years later.

At the doctor's office my sister said YAAAY an April Fool's baby.  My doctor corrected her and said they would have to start medicine and maybe even use a special instrument if contractions didn't start, so probably April 2nd.  Especially since my last appointment I was only dilated 1 cm.

I called Andy he left for work and went to get our bags at home,  while I got to the hospital and got all checked in.  We wanted to wait to call too many people until they checked me to see approximately a time line.  Well the nurse came in to check me to before starting the contraction medicine and to all of our surprise told me that there was no need to start the medication.  I was dilated to 5 cm already!!! CRAZY! I had done all of that work at home and was half way there.  It was such good news.

We started letting everyone know while we got settled in and the epidural started and my water broken.  I had gotten to the hospital about 10am.  Around 3pm I hadn't progressed much and the average, once labor starts, is a cm an hour.  My doctor decided to start the contraction medicine to help speed me along.  And did it ever!! I really started progressing and feeling pressure.  Around 7:30 pm I was dilated to 10 cm and we were getting ready to start pushing!!! Andy, my mom, and Brittany were in the room during the delivery and were really helpful.  I liked having them all in there and it was such a beautiful thing to experience with family.

After about a half hour of pushing we welcomed Jackson Paul Huth into our lives at 8:18 pm.  He was amazing!  He weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was 23 inches long.  The next Cody Zeller is what I kept hearing.  It was amazing! So quickly he was cleaned and laid on my chest.  Finally, after 9 months, I got to hold my wonderful, gorgeous son!  And he had some awesome hair!  It was so great to see Andy too.  He had the biggest smile I have ever seen plastered on his face as he cut the cord, watched Jackson get weighed and measured, and put his first diaper on him.  He was such a proud dad.

The rest of the night, and our time in the hospital really, went by really fast.  We had tons of friends and family there right away and over the next two days to visit us and meet Jackson.  It was amazing how much love and support we had.  On the way up to our room, they played the baby song for Jackson, commemorating his birth. Again, I cried.  He was official!  Up in our room, at about midnight, Jackson got his first bath from the nurses.  He cried the whole time, we figured out quickly that he hates being cold!

Our first night Jackson slept great.  In fact he slept all the time.  Still kind of does!  We also found out he loves to be swaddled.  We make sure at home to always have one clean.  Wednesday night we got to go home.  It was nerve racking but we were ready.  I had him in the cutest outfit to go home in and had taken everything else to the car.  As we were loading him up, he peed all over his outfit and ended up having to go home in a diaper and hospital shirt.  Oh Jackson!

I know the puppies were everyone's worry.  They are crazy dogs but loving.  They were nuts at first and made me very nervous.  But now, they love to check on Jackson, but other than that, they are back to acting like their normal crazy selves.

The first two weeks we had Andy home with us and got used to our little family.  This past Monday started just mommy and jackson home alone.  It has all been going great.  I want to be home with him everyday.  He still sleeps a lot and does great at night.  He has been awake more lately between feedings and it's so fun seeing his personality.  I am a little obsessed with him :)

We have had lots of visitors since being home too.  We truly are blessed. Now we are just trying to get on a schedule, spend lots of time loving, and waiting for his cord to fall off ( I am very anxious for this)!

Here are lots of pictures of Jackson and his life up to this point.  We don't have any shortage of pictures, I take tons every day!
