Jackson's Room

Hello all!!!! Hope everyone is doing great! We are GREAT over at the Huth household. It's been busy busy busy as usual! Sorry there have not been any pregnancy weekly updates since week 26. We took down the chalkboard while we were decorating Jackson's room, but have no fear it will go back up with a week 29 picture and post this weekend! I wanted to share all about decorating Jackson's room in this post. Unfortunately I don't really have a picture of the room pre-nursery. Which is sad. I wanted pictures of all rooms in my house from right when we moved in but I guess I neglected that task until it was too late. Anyways, I do have a picture of the walls before we painted. Just a plain tan color in the whole room. A pretty tan, that's found in most of my house right now, but not good for a nursery!
First my mom and Andy painted the whole room a background color of a light blue. I let Andy pick the background color. He chose after it was painted to tell me it's North Carolina blue. Not what I was going for! So I say baby blue :)
Then Saturday we called in the expert for the stripes, my cousin Shelly. My mom is great at painting but she had never done stripes and was a little nervous about it. We called Shelly in because she is very creative and great at decorating. And she's done stripes before. Instead of doing three stripes she taped off one big one. Later we would do a smaller one inside of it and make it look like three total stripes. Taping off the stripes was the hardest part. We had to keep it all very even and straight since it was going across all four walls. Before:

After the white dried, and we took a lunch break, we decided to tackle the grey stripe. It was the hardest. We had to make sure it was even, straight, and didn't run into any of the other colors. Two coats, six hours, and lots of laughs later we were done!! Here is the finished painting product.
Later Andy and I moved the furniture back in and in its proper places. Well the furniture we have so far. Andy had already painted the changing table and dresser white to match the crib. We also hung up the few decorations we have. Here's a picture with the letters for his name above his bed.
Now we just need to work on more decorating and bedding!! It's coming together. I love the paint job. I think it came out really well and looks professional. We are lucky we have a talented and helpful family. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will post this weekend with a preggo update as well as a project I am finishing up!
