All about being preggo!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I did and it ended great with a Colts win!!! Here's a short recap since my last update. This week I had a couple of doctor appointments. Thursday I took the day off and spent a couple hours at Riley Children's Hospital. My baby doctor wanted me to see my cardiologist just to make sure I was cleared for everything in pregnancy and labor and to see if I needed any special medications. I love Riley so I didn't mind going. After an echo my doctor said everything was still great and I didn't need to take any special precautions. Yay! Friday I had an eye appointment because when I have my contacts in my vision doesn't seem near as good as it did when I had my annual a couple of months ago. They said my vision could change during pregnancy due to hormones. After a couple tests, everything with my eyes is good and the doctor is just changing my prescription. Two good appointments. Thursday my mom and I took my grandma to a late night hair appointment with Karla. Some of her hair was starting to fall out because of the chemo so Karla cut her a really cute short new do. It was fun and her hair has been a hit! It was worth being exhausted the next day :) Friday I came home to flowers, candy and Magic Mike from Andy. He definitely won the best husband award. Saturday Andy and I went with Judy, Shelby, DJ and Jordan to Pizza King station. It was delish and I loved seeing my nephews. Then my sister was home!!! The whole family went to visit my grandma for awhile and then to a pub to catch up. Oh and I got a new Michael Kors phone case! Now I just need to get my blown speaker fixed. Today we had my mom, Dave, grandma and Britt over for the Colts game and some game food. Best part was watching Magic Mike extended dance scenes during half time. Ok enough catching up. This post is going to be the first focused on my pregnancy! I found out I was pregnant August 13th, 2012 at a doctor's appointment. I was 6 weeks pregnant and so excited. One of the best days of my life. I tried to call Andy when I left, but he didn't answer because he was in a meeting and now looking back I am glad he didn't. Later after work I came home and told him in person. He was so thrilled. He couldn't believe it!!! We scheduled an appointment for the following week with an OBGYN doctor my family doctor recommended. I always wanted my family doctor to deliver my babies but she stopped delivering a couple years ago. She recommended my OBGYN and told me this doctor was great. She actually delivered Dr. Beavins children. We had decided to wait to announce our pregnancy to everyone until after the first trimester just to make sure everything was alright. Our family was another story. I am so close with my family and knew I couldn't be around them and keep this secret for very long. So we decided to start thinking of a way to tell our parents. I got this idea to get those kid looking frames that say I Love My Grandma, I Love my Grandpa and inside the frame on card stock we decorated it and wrote out Coming Soon April 2013. We made one for all the parents: Dave, Lisa, Judy, Rick and Beverly. Here is a picture of the finished grandparent announcement frames:
First we told my parents. We met at their house for dinner with my sister (she was in town), and my grandma. I told them we brought them a decoration for their house. When they opened it my mom started screaming and Dave teared up. Britt was so excited but said she should've known first :) and my grandma was thrilled! Then we told Judy. We went over to her house before going out to dinner. When she saw the frame she got so excited! Andy told her she needed to get a van to tote around all her grandkids. When we told Rick and Beverly I thought they were starting to figure it out because we rescheduled for so many different reasons. We finally met for dinner and told them and they went nuts. They were ecstatic and have an ongoing battle over the sex of the baby. From then on we told our friends and other family periodically as we neared 12 weeks. It was hard to keep the secret in when we were so excited. Finally after 12 weeks we sent out pregnancy announcements and posted it on social media for the world to know :) Here's the announcement:
The baby has already gotten gifts! 5 minutes after telling my parents they ran upstairs and said they bought something months ago just when they saw it for their future grand baby. Shopping for a baby that didn't even exist yet, sounds like my mom :) It was a shirt that says "my first colts tee". It's so cute. The next day my sister got me tons of books. In the group was What to Expect When Expecting and a pregnancy memory book. Oh and a name book. Which is how our family got to calling the baby Sonoma. Dave grabbed the book and said whatever name I flip to is what the baby's name is, boy or girl. He flipped to Sonoma. So we always call it Sonoma and Dave has decided it'll just stay that....I think not. Robin got the cutest closet organizers for organizing the different clothing sizes. She got a boy and a girl one, so we are prepared either way! I am now 16 weeks pregnant, which is 4 months and already in the second trimester. It is going by so fast. I was lucky and didn't have any morning sickness. I felt a little sick when I would wake up some days but it usually went away when I ate something. I do have back pain and am tired a lot, but I have always been a nap-loving girl. I am definitely loving the sweets more too. I always want something sweet and can't get enough. I love prenatal vitamins. My hair and my nails look great. I cope with the aches and just buy a lot of preggo products. It's all worth it to get our baby Huth. One of my baby projects was to start a chalkboard timeline and document the weeks on my blog with a picture of the chalkboard, update and a belly photo. I saw it on Pinterest. My chalkboard is up so here is my first post.
How far along: 16 weeks Total weight gain: at last appointment 7 pounds. Although I am sure it has gone up! Maternity clothes: Not yet, but I am living in leggings and want to go maternity clothes shopping soon Stretch marks: not yet! Sleep: not terrible now that I have my body pillow. I wake up a couple times a night to go to the bathroom and it takes me a while to get comfortable and back to sleep Best moment this week: Having a great cardiology check up and getting our chalkboard. I love the timeline idea! Miss anything: Lunchmeat. I can eat lunchmeat if it's heated, so basically no lunchables and Jimmy Johns. Movement: none yet. I can't wait to feel movement. I am in the limbo stage where I just look fat not round, and don't feel anything so I long for appointments to hear the heartbeat and feel pregnant. Food cravings: sweets - all the time! mostly milkshakes, chocolate milk and cereal. Pregnancy has made my sweet addiction way worse. Anything making you queasy or sick: nope nothing yet! Gender: no idea, still a couple of weeks until we find out Labor signs: nope Symptoms: a lot of bathroom trips and a lot of backaches. My mom and Dave got me a massage for my birthday so I need to schedule that ASAP! Belly button in or out: in Wedding rings on or off: On, although I feel like my fingers are a little swollen sometimes. Happy or moody most of the time: Happy. I am really enjoying being pregnant. Looking forward to: Finding out the sex. I am so anxious! Well that's it for tonight! Soon I will do a blog on my favorite, much needed, preggo products! Have a great week!
