Baby food and the State Fair!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We definitely did. This weekend was all about family.

Friday we went to my parents to try and swim with Jackson. But even with the heater on it was too cold! So I got in the hot tub for the first time. They got it when I was pregnant. It is nice! I want one now.

Saturday we did some things around the house and went to the grocery store. We also had a visit from Beverly and Rick. It was good catching up and they brought Jackson some books and toys. He is so spoiled.

Sunday was the family reunion. It was a hard one with both my grandparents gone now but we still went and I am glad we did. Everyone was so kind and it was great catching up. There were TONS of babies there, including Jackson. Welcome the next Holliday generation. Here is a picture of Britt and I at the reunion. Besties :)

Last week we went to the State Fair with my mom and Dave.  We love to go on two dollar Tuesdays. Cheap admission and most booths have a deal for 2 dollars. We had lots of yummy and fried treats. It was Jackson's first fair and he was actually awake for a lot of it.

Here he is on our way in. He doesn't know what to think of all the people.

He was intrigued by the big animals. Especially the cows. He even got to wear a jacket my mom had bought him because it was a cool night. Made it a great night to go to the fair.

He was such a happy baby that night!

We made sure to see all the excitement like the cheese statue and the world's largest popcorn ball. And of course we needed a family photo by the popcorn ball!

We had so much fun!

We haven't had much change in the solid food movement. We started Jackson on rice cereal and after 3 different times of him spitting it out we added some bananas. He seemed to like that better but got an AWFUL diaper rash. I don't know if it was the bananas or just around the same time. But it was bad. We are just now getting it cleared up. We had stopped all solids while trying to clear it up. So Saturday we tried rice cereal again. Still not the best results. I decided to try a veggie this time and chose green beans. He seemed to like them! So green beans for a week and I will keep trying the cereal. I need to find a really good straight forward feeding schedule that tells me what and when. I like to be told exactly what to do when it comes to stuff for Jackson. I want to be very informed before diving into stuff so I have been a little crazy with this whole solids thing. But I will keep you all posted!

We bought a crib wedge (Jackson has slept elevated in a sleep and play since he was diagnosed with reflux) and decided to start working Jackson into sleeping in his crib. I love him sleeping in our room with us but I feel like he is a lot more aware now and wakes up easier at any noise so I figured it be better to move him to his room and get him more on a schedule. Last night was his first night to sleep in his crib all night. We have a video monitor and an Angel monitor. I know a bit excessive, but my mom and I found the Angel monitor recently at a consignment shop unopened and a great price. I heard rave reviews about it so we got it. It really puts my mind at ease. It will go off if there is no movement, so if he stops breathing. And then I always have the video monitor so I can see him. He did great in his crib except the crib wedge had him totally sideways. I think it's good if he doesn't move at all but he is a squirmy one and starting to roll so he rolls right down it. I think we will try tonight without the wedge and hope his reflux does alright without elevating.

I have become coupon obsessed and am working on a binder and my first discounting purchase today. I will update you tomorrow. We also got our August Citrus Lane box so I will review that this week. It's my favorite box so far!

Happy Monday!
